May 5-6th 2-Day Battle Camp

Our first camp of the summer wrapped up on Sunday, May 6th with a combined 45 female hockey players attending the 2-Day Battle Camp and 11 & Under Skills Clinic.

The Pre-Tryout Battle Camp group kicked off on Saturday with 24 girls ages 12-17. The camp was focused on physically and mentally preparing for tryouts on and off the ice. On the ice, the camp focused on small group stations, battle drills, skill development, and mini-games. Off the ice, girls had a one-hour training session, mental skills discussions, and a Q&A with a Division I coach.

Saturday’s off-ice session included a 60-minute workout led by Jill Zeller, USA Hockey National Team Strength Coach and Wake Forest University Director of Sports Performance. Jill led the girls through a dynamic warm-up, plyos and speed, and an up-tempo circuit. Jill ended the session with a talk around positive psychology and how top athletes control their reaction to every situation. Event + Reaction = Outcome.

Quinnipiac University (DI, ECAC) Assistant Coach, Amanda Mazzotta, held a Q&A session with the girls. Amanda is a Cornell University alum and also a Goaltending Coach for the Canadian National Team. Girls asked questions around college recruiting, preparing for tryouts, and learning what it takes to get to the next level.

Twenty girls ages 11 & Under attended our 75-minute clinic on Sunday morning. The clinic focused on skating, shooting, stickhandling, and mini-games! Girls enjoyed station drills and small area work and finished the clinic with a fun (and competitive!) game of sharks and minnows!
